I'm a lawyer who spent fifteen years on the production side of entertainment before becoming an attorney, so I understand the concerns of creators and artists.
Most importantly - I will explain to you what the heck that contract means and what the law really is on the issue you've got (not what someone tells you they think they heard). When it comes to contracts, "it's fine, sign it" isn't good enough - you need to know what your obligations and rights might or could be down the road. My rates are lower than average, without sacrificing experience. I'm not a 25-year-old kid fresh out of school: I'm a mature, smart, driven professional who knows his way around the industry. I've negotiated licenses with all the big studios, from both inside and outside, held my own with A-listers, and juggled production budgets; I know what you have to deal with and I'm here to use my legal skills and my production know-how to help. I've drafted, reviewed, and negotiated for screenwriters, authors, producers, websites, contests, game apps, fine art dealers, publishers, and more. I've demanded and gotten favorable changes on behalf of my clients. I also handle all business-related legal work -- filing trademarks, copyrights, LLCs, corporations, and partnership agreements. I'm a pro at negotiating settlements with the opposition -- and the one time I couldn't get them to come around, I took it to trial and won. I've handled all aspects of litigation from pre-trial motions to post-trial appeals. I'm admitted to appear in State and Federal Court, and not afraid to take it there. I am fearless in court, and never intimidated by my opponent. However, what I'm not is a collections bureau or a harassment machine -- I'm not going to take your money to yell at someone until they write you a check or offer you an apology. If that's what you need, I'm happy to refer you to someone else. I'm prep school and Ivy League educated, with good connections and a JD from an entertainment industry-focused law school. Let me help you with a contract you don't like, a contract you need to send someone, advice on a deal you're about to negotiate, licensing you need to do, or protecting your creative work, whether that's filing registrations, starting an action in court, or sending some well-crafted demand letters.
